About PDF Header & Footer
PDF Header & Footer stamps your own text at the top and bottom of PDF pages. It supports tokens for the page number, total pages, today's date and the file name, so 'Page {page} of {total}' becomes 'Page 3 of 12' on each page. You control alignment, font size, color and distance from the edge.
When it helps
- Adding 'Confidential' headers and page counts to documents before sending them to a client
- Labeling exhibits or bundle pages with the file name and page numbers
- Dating printouts so readers know which version they have
Tips
- Set 'First page number' to change where counting starts. For example, set it to 0 with Pages set to 2- so the cover page is skipped and page 2 reads 'Page 1'. {total} adjusts to match.
- {date} is the date when you run the tool, in your browser's local date format, not the document's creation date.
- Text uses a standard Helvetica font. Characters it can't show, such as most non-Latin scripts and emoji, are replaced with a question mark. Rotated pages are handled, so text appears upright.
