About Sheet to XLSX
Sheet to XLSX converts CSV, TSV, ODS or legacy XLS files into the modern Excel .xlsx format. Workbooks with several sheets keep all of them, and CSV or TSV input becomes a single sheet. This makes old or plain-text data easy to open, filter and share in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers.
When it helps
- Upgrading old .xls files that newer tools or upload forms reject
- Turning a CSV export from a website or app into a proper spreadsheet
- Converting LibreOffice ODS files for colleagues who use Excel
Tips
- When importing CSV, values that look like numbers are stored as numbers, so leading zeros in ZIP codes, phone numbers or IDs can be dropped. Check those columns.
- Cell styling such as colors, borders and fonts is generally not carried over from XLS or ODS. The data and sheet structure are.
- TSV files are split on tabs, and CSV files on commas. Files that use semicolons as separators won't split into columns correctly.
