About Add watermark
Add watermark stamps your text diagonally across the middle of each page, in bold, semi-transparent red. The size adjusts to the page. It's the classic way to label a document DRAFT, CONFIDENTIAL or SAMPLE while keeping the content readable.
When it helps
- Marking contract or proposal drafts so nobody mistakes them for final versions
- Labeling sample pages of an ebook or course material before sharing them
- Stamping copies of ID or financial documents with who they were sent to and why
Tips
- Short text works best. One or two words fit across the page at a readable size, while long sentences can run off the edges.
- The watermark is drawn on top of the page as text. It discourages reuse, but someone with a PDF editor can remove it. To bake it in, run Flatten PDF afterwards (this turns pages into images).
- The standard PDF font used here covers Western European characters. Text in other scripts may not convert.
