About Excel to PDF
Excel to PDF reads the first worksheet of an XLSX, XLS, ODS, CSV or TSV file and writes its cell values into a simple text-based PDF. It's a quick way to make a read-only snapshot of the data. It is not a print layout: the grid, formatting and charts aren't reproduced.
When it helps
- Making a non-editable record of a small list, such as an inventory or attendance sheet
- Archiving the contents of a CSV export in a format anyone can open
- Getting spreadsheet text into a PDF on a device without spreadsheet software
Tips
- Cell values are written row by row as running text. Column alignment, gridlines and row breaks are not kept, so wide tables become hard to read.
- Only the first worksheet is used, and formulas appear as their calculated values. Charts, images and cell colors are dropped.
- If the table needs to look like a table, use Excel, Google Sheets or LibreOffice's export to PDF, where you can also set the print area and page orientation.
