About DOCX to TXT
DOCX to TXT extracts all the text from a Word document into a plain .txt file, with paragraphs separated by blank lines. All formatting, images and layout are dropped, leaving just the words, which is useful for scripts, word counts and pasting into plain-text fields.
When it helps
- Pasting document content into a form or CMS that mangles Word formatting
- Feeding Word documents into a script, search index or translation tool
- Getting an accurate word count, or comparing two versions with a diff tool
Tips
- A DOCX file is a ZIP of XML parts. This tool reads the main document text, so headers, footers and comments are not included.
- List bullets and numbering may not appear in the output. Only the item text is kept.
- If you need headings and lists preserved as markup, convert to HTML instead.
