About N-up PDF (Pages per Sheet)
N-up PDF places 2, 4, 6, 9 or 16 pages onto each sheet, arranged left to right and top to bottom, ready for printing. Pages are embedded as vector content rather than images, so text stays sharp and selectable even when shrunk.
When it helps
- Printing lecture slides as handouts with several slides per page
- Saving paper when printing drafts for proofreading
- Making a compact overview of a long document or a set of design proofs
Tips
- 2-up and 6-up turn the sheet sideways relative to your pages, so portrait pages print side by side on a landscape sheet. 4, 9 and 16 keep the original orientation.
- Choose A4 or Letter as the sheet size if your source pages are unusual sizes. 'Same as original' uses the size of the first page.
- Small text gets hard to read past 4-up on A4. Turn on borders to make page edges clear at 9 or 16 per sheet. Links and form fields aren't kept on the combined sheets.
