About Image to PNG

This converter takes any still image your browser can decode, including JPG, WebP, BMP, SVG, ICO and iPhone HEIC files, and re-saves it as PNG. PNG is lossless, so the pixels you get out match what was decoded, and it can store a full alpha channel for transparency. Animated GIFs are reduced to their first frame.

When it helps

  • Turning a WebP or HEIC download into a PNG that older editors, slide software and upload forms accept.
  • Getting a lossless working copy of a JPG before making several rounds of edits, so quality doesn't drop each time you save.
  • Rasterizing an SVG or ICO into a regular PNG for documents and chat apps.
  • Grabbing a still frame from an animated GIF as a PNG.

Tips

  • PNG files of photos are often several times larger than the JPG they came from. That is normal for lossless compression and doesn't mean anything went wrong.
  • The Max dimensions fields only shrink images. The default is 4096 px, so raise it if you need a very large photo kept at full resolution.
  • Keep the background set to transparent to carry over the alpha channel from PNG, WebP, SVG or ICO sources, or fill it with a solid color if the destination shows transparency badly.

Only the first frame is exported, because PNG as produced here is a single still image. Use a GIF-specific tool if you need every frame.

Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many files you process.

No. Files are read and processed locally in your browser, so they never leave your device.
