About Blur Image

Apply a smooth, Gaussian-style blur to an entire image, with blur strength adjustable from a subtle softening to a heavy haze. Blurred photos make good backgrounds behind text, and a strong blur can make an image's details unreadable.

When it helps

  • Creating a soft background for slides, website heroes or phone wallpapers so text on top stays readable.
  • Obscuring a whole screenshot or photo before sharing it as a placeholder or teaser.
  • Producing a frosted-glass style backdrop for a design mockup.

Tips

  • Values of a few pixels soften an image. Higher values in the tens of pixels turn it into abstract color.
  • The blur covers the whole image, not a selected area. To hide one region such as a face, crop it out or use a dedicated redaction tool.
  • Light blur isn't secure redaction for text. Use a strong radius or Pixelate Image with large blocks so it can't be read.
