Upscale Image
Enlarge an image 2×, 3× or 4× with smooth high-quality resampling or crisp nearest-neighbor for pixel art.
This is classic resampling, not AI super-resolution — it cannot invent detail that isn't there.

About Upscale Image
Enlarge an image by 2x, 3x or 4x using classic resampling. The smooth method suits photos and can add a light sharpening pass, while pixel-perfect (nearest-neighbor) keeps hard edges for pixel art, icons and sprites. This is not AI super-resolution, so it makes images bigger without inventing new detail.
When it helps
- Enlarging retro game sprites or pixel art without blurring the pixels.
- Scaling up small icons or favicons for a larger preview.
- Meeting a minimum pixel size required by a print service or upload form.
Tips
- Use pixel-perfect for anything made of visible pixels. Smooth would blur its crisp edges.
- Leave sharpening on for photos to offset the softness of enlargement. Turn it off if halos appear around edges.
- Upscaling a JPG also enlarges its compression artifacts. Start from the cleanest source available.
Good to know
Quick answers about upscale image in your browser.
It increases pixel dimensions, but it can't add real detail. The image will be larger and smooth (or blocky in pixel mode), not sharper than the original.
Use the pixel-perfect method at a whole-number scale like 2x or 4x. Each original pixel becomes a clean square block.
