About Color Palette Extractor

Pull the dominant colors out of any image as HEX and RGB codes. You get a swatch sheet image showing each color with its share of the picture, plus a text file listing the codes and a ready-to-paste block of CSS custom properties. Choose anywhere from 2 to 16 colors.

When it helps

  • Building a website or slide color scheme from a photo, logo or mood board.
  • Matching brand colors from an existing logo when you don't have the hex codes.
  • Finding coordinating colors from artwork or product photos for a design.

Tips

  • Fewer colors give the broad overall palette. More colors pick up smaller accents.
  • Mostly transparent pixels are ignored, so logos on transparent backgrounds give their real brand colors.
  • Percentages show how much of the image each color covers. A large share isn't always the most eye-catching color, so pick accents from the smaller swatches.
