About Resize Image

Resize an image to exact pixel dimensions. Enter a width and height, or set one of them to 0 and the other is calculated to keep the original aspect ratio. The result is saved as a JPG, which keeps files compact for sharing and uploading.

When it helps

  • Meeting upload rules such as "photo must be 600x600 pixels" on application and ID forms.
  • Downsizing large camera photos to a reasonable width for a blog or website.
  • Making a set of images the same width for a consistent layout.

Tips

  • Set height to 0 and enter only a width (or the reverse) to avoid stretching. Entering both values forces those exact dimensions.
  • Making an image smaller works well. Making it much larger only spreads existing pixels, so it will look soft.
  • The output is JPG, so transparent areas are filled with the background color you choose. Use Upscale Image or Crop Image if you need PNG output.
