About Fade Video In/Out
Fade Video In/Out adds a fade from black at the start and a fade to black at the end of a video, with the audio fading in and out to match. It gives clips a finished, professional start and end instead of an abrupt cut.
When it helps
- Adding a clean opening and closing to a family video, vlog or slideshow export.
- Smoothing the ending of a clip that stops mid-sentence or mid-song.
- Preparing segments that will play one after another in a presentation or kiosk loop.
Tips
- Each fade can be 0 to 10 seconds. One to two seconds feels natural for most clips; longer fades suit slow, cinematic footage.
- Set either fade to 0 to skip it, for example a fade-out only for the end of a recording.
- To fade between clips rather than to black, merge the clips first and then fade the joined video, or fade each clip before merging for a dip-to-black between them.
