About Resize Video
Resize Video scales a video to a target height of 4K (2160), 1080p, 720p, 480p or 360p while keeping its aspect ratio. The width is calculated automatically, so nothing is stretched, and the result is saved as an H.264 MP4.
When it helps
- Downscaling 4K phone or drone footage to 1080p so it is easier to edit and share.
- Making a 480p or 360p copy of a video for slow connections or small embedded players.
- Matching several clips to the same height before merging them.
Tips
- The target is the frame height, so for a vertical 1080x1920 phone video, choosing 1080p makes it 608x1080, not 1080x1920. For portrait video, pick the height you want the tall side to be.
- Downscaling is one of the most effective ways to cut file size, since there are far fewer pixels to encode.
- Upscaling, for example 480p to 1080p, gives a bigger file but no extra detail.

Quick answers about resize video in your browser.
No. Only the height is set; the width is calculated to keep the original shape and rounded to an even number as H.264 requires.
Resizing gives you control over the exact output height. Compress Video combines a 1280-pixel width cap with a higher CRF in one step. For the smallest file, resize and raise the CRF slider together.
Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many files you process.
No. Files are read and processed locally in your browser, so they never leave your device.
Large files are slow in WebAssembly and must stay under 2GB.
