About Merge Videos

Merge Videos joins two or more clips into a single MP4 in the order you add them. Clips with different sizes are scaled to fit the first clip's resolution and letterboxed with black bars, so you can combine footage from different phones and cameras.

When it helps

  • Combining several short phone clips from a trip or event into one video.
  • Joining a trimmed intro, main recording and outro into a finished file.
  • Putting a clip and its reversed copy back to back for a boomerang effect.
  • Reassembling parts of a long recording that was split into multiple files.

Tips

  • The first clip decides the output resolution and frame rate, so add your main or highest-quality clip first.
  • Mixing portrait and landscape clips adds black bars around the ones that do not match the first clip's shape. Crop or rotate clips beforehand if you want them to fill the frame.
  • Clips without sound get silence inserted so the audio stays in sync across the joins.
  • Every clip is re-encoded, and all of them are processed together in the browser, so merging many long or 4K clips needs a lot of memory and time.
