About Bass Booster
This bass booster raises the low end of a song or recording with a shelving boost centred on the frequency you choose, between 40 and 250 Hz. A limiter is applied afterwards so big boosts don't push the file into clipping.
When it helps
- Adding weight to music that sounds thin on laptop speakers or cheap earbuds
- Making a car-audio or 'bass boosted' version of a track
- Warming up a thin voice recording slightly
Tips
- Around 60 Hz targets sub-bass and kick-drum thump; 100 to 150 Hz adds punch and body that small speakers can actually reproduce.
- Start with 4 to 8 dB. Very high boosts, up to 20 dB, will be held back by the limiter and can sound squashed or boomy.
- Phone and laptop speakers can't reproduce much below about 80 to 100 Hz, so boosting 40 Hz may change nothing you can hear on them.

For deep rumble try 50 to 70 Hz; for punchy bass you can hear on smaller speakers try 100 to 120 Hz.
The boost is too strong for the original mix. Lower the dB amount, or move the center frequency up a little so less energy goes into the deepest notes.
