About Audio Noise Reduction
This tool reduces steady background noise such as hiss, air-conditioning hum, fan whir and computer noise using FFmpeg's FFT-based denoiser, which tracks the noise floor across the recording. An optional high-pass filter also cuts low rumble below 80 Hz.
When it helps
- Cleaning hiss from a cheap USB or laptop microphone recording
- Reducing fan or air-conditioning noise behind a voice-over or podcast
- Tidying lecture or interview recordings before transcription
- Removing traffic rumble and desk bumps with the low-cut option
Tips
- Start with the default 12 dB. Push toward 20 to 30 dB only for very noisy files, as strong settings can make voices sound watery or robotic.
- Keep the 80 Hz rumble cut on for speech; turn it off for music with deep bass you want to keep.
- It works best on constant noise. Sudden sounds like dogs barking, keyboard clicks or people talking in the background won't be removed.
- Do noise reduction before normalizing or boosting volume, so you don't amplify the noise first.

Quick answers about audio noise reduction in your browser.
Upload the file, leave the reduction around 12 dB and compare the result. Increase it a few dB at a time until the hiss is acceptable without the voice sounding processed.

Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many files you process.
No. Files are read and processed locally in your browser, so they never leave your device.
