About Change Audio Speed
Change how fast a recording plays, anywhere from 0.25x to 4x. With 'Keep original pitch' on, voices stay natural at any speed; turn it off and the pitch rises or falls with the speed, like a record played at the wrong RPM.
When it helps
- Speeding a lecture or audiobook to 1.5x so you can get through it faster
- Slowing a guitar solo or language lesson to 0.75x to learn it by ear
- Making 'sped up' or 'slowed' versions of songs for social media edits
- Fitting a voice-over to a fixed length for a video
Tips
- Speech stays comfortable to follow up to about 1.5x to 2x with pitch preserved. Beyond that, words start to blur.
- Turn pitch preservation off for the classic 'nightcore' (faster and higher) or 'slowed' (slower and deeper) sound.
- Pitch-preserving time stretching can add a slight phasey or watery texture at extreme settings; moderate changes sound cleanest.

Leave 'Keep original pitch' switched on and set the speed below 1, for example 0.8x. The tempo drops but the key stays the same.
Set the speed to around 1.25x to 1.35x and switch 'Keep original pitch' off so the vocals rise in pitch along with the tempo.
