About Audio Equalizer
An equalizer changes the balance of low, mid and high frequencies. Pick a preset such as Vocal clarity, Podcast voice, Warm, Bright, Telephone or Lo-fi, or choose Custom and set bass (around 100 Hz), mid (1 kHz) and treble (5 kHz) yourself from -15 to +15 dB.
When it helps
- Making dialogue clearer in an interview or video voice-over
- Giving a podcast a more polished broadcast sound with the Podcast preset
- Creating a phone-call or lo-fi effect for music and video
- Taming harsh treble or muddy bass in an amateur recording
Tips
- The Custom sliders only apply when the preset is set to Custom; the named presets use their own settings.
- Cutting is often better than boosting. If a voice sounds muddy, lower bass a few dB rather than raising mid and treble.
- The Podcast preset also adds gentle compression and a low-cut filter, which evens out the level as well as the tone.
- Telephone and Lo-fi intentionally remove highs and lows. They're effects, not fixes.

Try the Vocal clarity preset, which cuts low rumble and boosts the presence range around 3 kHz. In Custom mode, a small bass cut and a modest treble lift do something similar.
Choose the Telephone preset. It removes frequencies below about 400 Hz and above about 3.2 kHz, the band a traditional phone line carries.
