About JSON to YAML
Paste or upload JSON and get the equivalent YAML, using the yaml library to produce block-style output with no forced line wrapping. YAML is a superset of JSON, so the data survives unchanged; only the syntax becomes easier for people to read and edit.
When it helps
- Turning the output of kubectl get -o json into a manifest you can edit and commit.
- Converting a JSON config into YAML for GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Docker Compose or Helm values.
- Rewriting an OpenAPI or JSON Schema document in YAML for easier code review.
Tips
- Long strings are kept on one line rather than folded, which keeps diffs predictable.
- Strings that YAML would otherwise read as another type, such as "true", "null", "0123" or "1.10", are quoted in the output so they stay strings.
- JSON key order is preserved, so the YAML follows the same structure as your source file.
