About CSS Beautifier
This beautifier reformats minified or messy CSS with one declaration per line, consistent indentation and a space after each colon. Nested blocks such as @media rules are indented one level deeper, and a blank line separates top-level rules.
When it helps
- Reading a minified stylesheet from a production site or a third-party library.
- Cleaning up CSS copied from browser DevTools or generated by a design tool.
- Normalizing inconsistent formatting before a code review.
Tips
- Choose 2 spaces, 4 spaces or tabs to match your codebase.
- A missing final semicolon is added before each closing brace, which makes later edits less error-prone.
- Comments are kept. Strings, including url() paths and content values, are not altered.
- To shrink the file again after editing, run it through the CSS Minifier.
