About HTML Beautifier

This beautifier indents HTML so each block-level element sits on its own line at the right depth. Elements that contain only text and inline tags like <a>, <strong> or <span> stay on one line when short, so paragraphs remain readable instead of being split at every tag.

When it helps

  • Reading minified HTML from view-source or a server-rendered page.
  • Tidying an HTML email template or CMS export before editing it.
  • Reviewing markup generated by a site builder or WYSIWYG editor.

Tips

  • Content inside <pre> and <textarea> is left exactly as is, because whitespace there is visible to users.
  • Inline <script> and <style> blocks are re-indented as a whole, but their code is not reformatted. Use the CSS Beautifier for stylesheets.
  • Void elements such as <br>, <img> and <input> are written without closing tags, as HTML expects.
