About TSV to CSV
Copying cells from Excel or Google Sheets puts tab-separated text on your clipboard. This tool converts that text, or any .tsv file, into standard comma-separated CSV. Values that contain commas, quotes or line breaks are quoted so other programs read them back correctly.
When it helps
- Saving a range copied from a spreadsheet as a CSV file without opening a spreadsheet app.
- Converting TSV exports from databases, analytics tools or research software for CSV-only importers.
- Preparing data for a CRM, e-commerce platform or mailing tool that requires .csv uploads.
Tips
- Paste straight from the spreadsheet into the text box. The tab between cells is what the tool splits on.
- Values such as "Paris, France" are wrapped in double quotes in the output, and any quotes inside a value are doubled, as the CSV format requires.
- Leading zeros, such as 00501, are kept as text in the file. Whether they survive depends on how the next program opens the CSV.
